Day Care Centre

A Day Care Centre has been established within the premises of the college to take care of the kids / Children of the faculty Dr.Venkata Kalaiarasy, HOD of English has been entrusted with responsibility of taking care of the requirements of the centre. With an initial investment of Rs. 20000/-, dolls and playing articles have been purchased to engage the kids in the centre. There is a servant maid to take care of the children. The Day Care Centre enables the faculty to leave their small kids in the centre thereby helping them to concentrate on their work.

Legal Counseling Centre

A legal counseling centre has been functioning in the college enabling the women in this semi urban area to represent their civil and social problems and get them redressed. Prominent lawyers in the town assemble in the centre on every Saturday to listen to the grievances of the ladies and suggest a possible remedy to them. This has become a boon to the underprivileged women in this semi urban area.

Computer Lab

The college consists of a sophisticated computer laboratory with 40 computers. It gives an opportunity for excellent hands on experience on the updated Pentium machines with all latest software. The college has microprocessor lab equipments and internet connectivity with Broadband facility. In microprocessor laboratory, 20 Microprocessor kits are available. CLP : (Computer Literacy Programme)

A Computer Literacy Programme was initiated by the Government of Tamilnadu in all Government Colleges to enrich all undergraduate Non-Computer Science students from the year 2000-2001.A separate lab was established with 50 computers and other necessary equipments by ELCOT and a certificate course was being conducted in collaboration with NIIT, Kumbakonam under a contract period of 5 years.

In the year 2005-2006, the CLP lab with all equipments was handed over to the college by NIIT and the course is being conducted successfully for all the first year under graduate students. This course is being offered for Rs.700/- with 90 practical hours and 60 theory hours. An examination is conducted by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Chennai at the end of the course and a valid certificate is issued.

In 2010-2011, 40 Pentium PCs and two 5KVA UPS, a Dot matrix Printer, and a Laser printer have been purchased. Eight Junior lecturers are exclusively appointed to conduct the classes. This course has been regulated by a CLP monitoring committee consisting of the HOD of the Department of Computer Science and a senior science faculty member. More than 1000 students are getting benefited every year.

Language Lab

The Language lab was setup at the cost of Rs.5,56,600 Lakhs by the Government of Tamil Nadu to enhance the communication skills of the students. There are 10 computers connected to a server with language software. The language lab was inaugurated on 11th March 2010 by Mr. Jayabaskaran Charles, Former Director of Collegiate Education.

AIR Conditioned UGC Seminar hall

A fully air conditioned Seminar Hall with an area of 800 sq.ft. provides a right ambience for conducting Seminars, Symposiums and Guest lectures.


UGC Network Resource Centre

A network has been established in the library through the patronage of UGC. It consists of five personal computers connected through Local Area Network (LAN). This helps the students to get an access to internet. This centre has become a boon, particularly to Post-Graduate students of Arts and Sciences in pursuit of their career. In addition, PCs in all department and office have an access to Broadband facility and they are networked suitably.


Library

A Library is a storehouse of knowledge and Information. It caters to the intellectual pursuits of the students. The library has a heterogeneous collection of more than 30000 books in Arts and Sciences. The textbooks are purchased from the funds allocated by the state Government and UGC.

Besides, Journals are also being procured by the Departments for the benefit of students and staff. Leading newspapers in papers in English and Tamil are also being subscribed by the library to increase the awareness of the students. A Xerox machine recently purchased has facilitated the students to take photocopies of books and journals.

Sports

The College has a playground for various track and field events with the facilities for playing Volley ball, Hockey, Basket ball and Ball-badminton, Table Tennis court and a well equipped GYM is also available.


UV Treated Water Plant

An ultraviolet treated water plant costing Rs.1,85,000 has been installed in the premises through the funds mobilized from UGC under "Basic Scientific Research". It helps the students to get an access to Protected and Pathogenized water.


Installation of Uninterrupted Power Supply

Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPSs) have also been installed in the laboratories of the institution. This has come in handy to the students to perform uninterrupted experiments in the laboratory, UPSs established in the office and staff rooms helps in the overall administration of the institution. Five KVA online UPS have also been installed at Controller Office, Department of Computer Science and centre for Non Linear Science.


College Canteen

There is a Canteen within the college premises which is run by a private person. The P.W.D. allots it by auction, every year. It is well maintained in a hygienic manner and monitored by the Canteen Committee once in a week. The timings of canteen is from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm which benefits both first and second shift students.

Meals, tea, coffee, cool drinks and snacks are served at subsidized rate and cost of each item is displayed at the entrance of the canteen.


Hostels

Government College for women (Autonomous), Kumbakonam, provides affordable hostel facilities, inclusive of food and accommodation, for the poor and deserving students of the college hailing from near by villages. All care and steps have been taken to ensure that the students are comfortable and are able to concentrate on their studies.

Built on 14203.20 `sq. feet area, the hostel can accommodate 210 students. The hostel was built from the fund sanctioned by the state Government. The State Government had sanctioned Rs. 6. 50 lakhs in the year 1970 - 1971.
