Research Cell


                As per the stipulations of Bharathidasan University, each Departments which have been recognized to conduct full / part time Research Programmes its monitored by a Departmental Research Committee (DRC) while the research programmes of the institution are reviewed by the Research Cell headed by the senior most research Supervisor. Some of the recommendation of the research cell are the following.
An active Research Cell which promotes research culture by conducting seminars, symposia, intellectual discussions with external subject experts .Some of the recommendations of the research cell are the following.

  • To scrutinize the validity or eligibility of the research proposals submitted by the Faculty.
  • Presenting a seminar every year for full time research scholars has been made mandatory.
  • To encourage the faculty to apply for
                i. Sponsored research projects.
                ii. Travel support for attending conference abroad
               iii. Book grant
               iv. Organizing Seminar/ Workshop / Conference
  • To create an awareness among the faculty on obtaining citation index, h-index etc.
  • To encourage the students apply for student projects funded by TANSCHE, TNSCST, etc.,

Consultancy

           

Scope: To establish a framework to promote and support consultancy activities at Government College for Women (A), Kumbakonam.


Eligibility:

  • This policy applies to all faculty and staff of Government College for Women(A), Kumbakonam.


Regulations:

  • The faculty or staff must ensure that the consultancy work does not create a conflict of interest with the role of the faculty in the college.
  • The organization requiring consultancy services from faculty or the department shall write to the principal indicating the expertise required.
  • The principal on receiving the request from the organization shall inform to the department concerned.
  • The head of the department shall nominate the faculty or a group of faculty having the required expertise taking into account such factors as the compatibility of the activity with the responsibilities and commitments of the faculty member(s), potential conflicts of interest and the use of institution resources. 
  • A report of the consultancy service provided should be submitted to the Principal through Head of the Department on the completion of the activity.


Publications:

  • Publication arising from consultancy work shall include the faculty affiliation of the college and acknowledge for the facilities used from the college.


Intellectual property Rights (IPR):

  • College IPR may be used where not in conflict with rights of third parties or any commercialization plan.


Consultancy services offered may cover a variety of activities such as:

  • Expert Advice and R&D Consultancy
  • Testing & analysis (including certification and calibration)
  • Training
  • Technical assistance of an advisory nature
  • Fabrication/ production of special products
  • Repair and maintenance
  • Supply of information/ database.
  • Technical manpower and other infrastructure of the university for conduct of online / offline examinations or tests; and other e-services. 


Note:

Items like Book royalty and honorarium for Expert Committee meetings, invited lectures, PhD viva/evaluation, invited training programmes, organization of conferences/workshops are not covered under consultancy.


Other Commercial Rules:

  • College facilities and resources may be used and must be charged in line with the guidelines from the principal, from time to time.
  • Meeting related to consultancy work with the organization(s) may be conducted in college premises.
  • Tax is applicable for the revenue generated through consultancy work.


Policy for Revenue Sharing in Consultancy
:

  • Consultancy work can bring financial benefits both to the institution and its employees.
  • In view of encouragement the institution has decided to share the revenue generated out of consultancy services to the faculty or group of faculty as follows.

For Consultancy Services Charging more than Rs.10,000

A proposal has to be submitted and the proposal so submitted shall be placed for screening before a CIIP committee in case the total cost of Consultancy project is more than Rs. 10,000/-The CIIP committee may accept / reject the proposal depending on its merit. The CIIP committee will be constituited by  (i) Principal -  Chairman (ii) Head of the dept.  (iii) One Senior Staff (to be nominated by Chariman)  (iv) One Outside Expert.
